Definition: primary (or raw) data is a term for data collected from a source.
Alternative definition: primary data are factual records used as primary sources for research.
Explanation: primary or raw data has not been subjected to processing, analyses or any other manipulation. Examples are results from empirical testing and measuring devices, transcripts of interviews and surveys, and recorded observations.
